Marugen Ranmen Isahaya

Very warm atmosphere, frienldy staff and very tasty japanesse food. Highly recommented for casual comfort japanesse food.

I really like this place as the Ramen is the closest I've been able to find to Japan in Amsterdam. In particular I like the tonkotsu Ramen as the broth is packed with meaty umami flavour.Only criticism is that it's based on an Izakaya, yet closes really early. A traditional Izakaya should be open late at night through to the early morning, so open later please if you can. I'm sure you'd have loads more customers.

Been there when they had a sake tasting or meet-up so it was quite full. But really nice atmosphere. The ramen are good, i had the miso teriyaki but I missed some more flavour in the soup. The extra spice was nice but t they had no other spices or soja sauce on the table. I should possibly try another base for the soup the next time. The wine i ordered was really sour but i got a new glass, so speaks for them. Service like almost everywhere in Amsterdam a bit slow but friendly. Want to try their other location on ceintuurbaan next time and see if i can order the specials from the website there.
